Green Alternatives
Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) - Among many other consumer products, hardwood floor finishes contain VOC's. VOC's that are released into the air react with oxides of nitrogen and sunlight to form ground-level ozone.

The demand for wood floor finishes with low emissions of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC's) is on the rise for various reasons:

1) A healthier working environment for us and our floor mechanics

2) The disposal of of high VOC waste products is time consuming, expensive, and potentially hazardous to the natural environment

3) The manufacture of high VOC finishes is detrimental to the natural environment - polluting air, water, earth and creating ozone

4) To diminish national dependence on petroleum based products

5) Environmental consciousness is critical to the success of the wood flooring industry

De Lago Grundl Hardwoods recommends the following options in low VOC finishes:

1) Water based stains, sealers, and urethanes

2) Wax

3) Natural oil
